The directions that follow are to assist students from the
Chicago Campus who may need to visit the Health Service on
the Evanston Campus located at 633 Emerson Street. Be sure
to call the Health Service at 847 491-8100 to verify the hours
of operation of the department you are visiting. Additional
information may be accessed on the Location
and Hours page with more specifics via the Departments
and Services page.
Driving to the Health Service - Evanston from the Chicago
Campus
Take Lake Shore Drive northbound until it ends and make a
right turn on Sheridan Road.
Continue north on Sheridan Road. At Howard you leave Chicago
and enter Evanston. Carefully follow the signs for Sheridan
Road northbound. When you come to the intersection of Sheridan
Road and Chicago, continue north on Sheridan following the
curve to the right. Get in the left lane and make a left turn
at the intersection of Foster (which is the first stoplight
after the curve).
Proceed west on Foster to Orrington (one block west at the
first stop sign). Go south (left turn) on Orrington to Emerson
(one block). The Health Service building is on Emerson at
Orrington and the entrance to the building is about half a
block east (a left turn off of Orrington) at 633 Emerson.
The parking lot for the Health Service only permits FH stickers
and parking regulations are enforced 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
You may wish to attempt street parking on Orrington which
has a two hour limit.
Taking the "El" (CTA) Train to the Health Service
- Evanston from the Chicago Campus
Take the "CTA Purple Line" north toward Linden.
If you are on the Chicago Campus, you may board via the subway
at Chicago Avenue and State Street.
Get off the train at Foster Street and make a right, turning
east onto Foster Street. Walk east about a block to Sherman.
Make a right turn and walk south one block on Sherman to Emerson
Street (has a stop light). Proceed left (east) on Emerson
Street approximately one block.
You will see the Health Service ahead of you at Orrington
and Emerson. The front entrance to the building is on the
south side of the street at 633 Emerson.
